Casting for Commercial Models females and males.

Bryan Shuman, BK Shuman Photography, is now casting for commercial models. These photographs will be submitted to stock agencies. Models are required to fill out and sign commercial model releases plus a usage contact for any images that you receive. Must have a picture ID.

As I have a tight budget, I will only pay models that will do a trade test shoot first. If I feel you can sell the look then I will book you for a few paying gigs later in the summer and over the winter.

If you don't need a commercial style to your portfolio, I will shoot another style for you as trade.

Spring Road Safety Tip

Yes, it is spring again, which means us farmers are on the road with our big green, red, yellow, or blue equipment. Forgive me if I have forgotten any other colors. Please be safe, treat us as an emergency vehicle. Slow down and pull over to the right, as most equipment is wider than one side of the road. That means we have the right of way. A 15 ft wide or wider piece of equipment and a small car cannot pass on a small two lane bridge. If we meet in the middle, it will mess up your car more than it will my equipment. You will receive the ticket.

Most times, we travel only 15 - 25 mph in the middle of the road. I am in the middle of the road because mail boxes and other things are too close to the road. When able, most farmers will move over as far as possible so that you may pass. When this happens, PASS, damnit! I personally give two chances. Please don't flip us off, it's rude. It only pisses us off, and we might hit a bump and wipe you out as you drive by. Please remember, we farmers feed your asses!

So it has been a while since my last post. The fall harvest is done and year end paper work is done. Now I can get back to my photography. Here are a few of Cat from over the summer.

Beauty of the female form...

Nudity in art has been around since the caveman days. The stick figures drawn on cave walls were the first nude drawings. Since those days, art lovers have been fascinated by and drawn to the nude form. (Especially us males with that of the female form.) To me nothing compares to the beauty and grace that God gave the female form upon creation. Size does not matter in art nor should it in life. The ideal of the perfect proportion human form is always changing. What is hot today is not tomorrow. I am not all that keen on the whole size double zero thing. I like the female form to have some curves to it and not bones poking out all over the place. Tattoos can also distract the viewers' eyes from the natural travel of the eye over the form.

What is an art nude to me or you? My thoughts are that the form should be the main focus. The piece of art should say something to the artist. In my own work I hear "Beautiful". I hope when you view my art work you hear something similar.

Landscapes in the fog.

Over the years I have studied the work of Ansel Adams, Elliot Porter, John Shaw and a few other great landscape and nature photographers, but I have never really shot any landscapes being a portrait and wedding photographer in Springfield, Ohio. One reason is that I love the grand openness of the west, which all you have in Ohio when you shot wide is power poles and telephone lines in the way. Then a few weeks ago, It click when I was driving to work one morning in the fog. The fog makes the land beautiful and helps to hide the human added elements. So here are a few from that week in the foggy mornings hours just after the sun rise.

Hi all. O.k it's been awhile since I last posted. Sorry, but been real busy farming and retouching summer shoots. So here is some news.

The old white barn at the North Farm is now gone. (pics soon). We hit the summer arts fest in Springfield, Ohio this year a couple of times. I got some great shots of Colin Hay, the formal front man for Men at Work. He put on an ok show for not having a band back him up. He don't look the same as he did in the 80's, aged some. Don't we all. LOL

This past Sunday, I took the wife and kid with me up to Mid-Ohio raceway for The Honda 200 indy car race. They both got red as can be, but that's what they get for only going out in the sun two days a year. LO

Scott Dixon won the race. I got some killer pics. (will post soon).

That is what I have been up too since my last post, so you see I shoot assignments that don't have pretty models involved all the time.

Speaking of pretty girls the model above is Heather Clum from Springfield, Ohio. I shoot her one day last month to add some bridal, wedding and glamour photographer to my portfolio, which I might add is advancing rather nicely. I will soon have it back online.

The reservoir in winter fog.

Ok a new year, 08 had its ups and downs, but I hope that 2009 rocks. I had no luck in finding a model to come out and play this weekend. So on Saturday Lorri and I stopped along the back half of CJ Brown Reservoir on the way over to get the mail at the farm. The photos above are the result from that visit. It was cold, windy, a light mix of mist falling and it had iced up all day long. Beautiful.

Back on December 9th, Lorri and I went over to Columbus to photograph the cute and sweet model Britt in one of the finest of the area's parks. At the request of park officers I will not name the park. It is a lovely place. All I can say about Britt is WOW, she blow Lorri and I away. I was thinking that she be a hard core freak
punker or something, but what we got was one of the cutest and sweetest people that I have ever photographed. Here is a sample.

Shooting FTCD/P work until late April or mid March.

Looking for models (female and male) for the following types of work: FTCD/P

-Casual- both in and outdoors
-Art Nude- nudes in the woods
- nudes in found geometrical objects.
- nudes and implied nudes along the back roads of Clark county or any close county,

-Fashion/Glamour- both in and outdoors
-Implied Nude- both in and outdoors

-Bridal Portraits- trash the dress, and other weird stuff.
Model needs to have a dress for this one.
I am working on finding a used dress for some of these.
I am needing normal type bridal portraits also. No trashing of dress on these.

I am willing to travel to you within reason to shoot these projects. I am willing to pay the models travel cost within reason.( like gas not a plane ticket). I will make no money off of these yet. Hopefully in five to ten years I will have a large body of work for a book and gallery show.

I have some very interesting and hot concepts for some brave and hopefully warm blooded models. If you are or would be interested in working on any of my projects or would like more information on any of them, throw me a tag or message.

I will say that one of the shoots for a project will involve smoke, fire and massive heat.

Harvest is done and the equipment is clean, repaired and put away resting, awaiting the next harvest. Fall went by almost with out much notice, except for the hurricane for which I have to thank for all the down trees that need to be cut up. Plus side, I can use them for props and backgrounds.
The farm is a little over 1000 acres mixed with fields, pastures, woods, two ponds, old barns, and lets not forget the John Deere tractors. I know this place like the back of my hand. I use this location or locations within a 5 minute drive of it for most of my photography.
Having a photojournalist background I am very comfortable photographing a wide array of subjects and locations. I work fast, giving a little bit of direction and feedback to subject durning the shoot. I feel a strong chill in the air and frost on the ground. Winter is very near. I'm so happy. Time to shoot. Now able to take any day off from work. Which means I have alot of time for FTCD/P work. Shooting FTCD/P work until late April or mid March.
